Forbes report that the new Black Sabbath box “Anno Domini 1989-1995” is doing well in the States. Billboard #10 in the Albums Chart, #11 on the Vinyl Chart for starters. Got to love this.

(My shot of said box, also seen here is a 1990 Black Sabbath story I had published in Swedish newspaper LT when “Tyr” came out – good times)

Back in 2008, I published a 24 page global edition of my then ongoing publication SLICE (this was post Deep Purple Forever! and pre Retrofuture). If you enjoy this blog you will probably enjoy this fanzine. I will trade a copy of this for international magazines that features Deep Purple, some Black Sabbath, Babymetal, Japanese female fronted rock etc. Let me know what you have and we may have a deal.

This magazine includes Deep Purple (big interview with me – how about that? – plus the classic 1992 interview about the Joe Lynn Turner split with the man himself), Carina Lirola, Elizabeth Hurley (rant about our freedoms), Blackhawks (the comic), book reviews, big humorous feature on Sweden, UFO (the band), Nightmare In The Sky (WWII comic, you can check it out on this blog, just find the tag!), Commando interview with then Editor In Chief Calum Laird, Lucy Lawless (singing career!) and Martina Edoff (Swedish singer posing with Xena chakram, we did a lot of that back in the day!). There is more fun stuff, but this is the gist of it.

Busy updating this blog with more tags and 2020-2024 is done (which means 2012-2019 is still work in process). New tags are “220 Volt”, “Black Sabbath”, “DVDs & Blu-rays”, “J-Pop”, “Japanese rock & metal”, “Tarja & Nightwish”, “Vikings”, “Tommy Bolin” and “Xena Warrior Princess”. A tag basically means that you have blogs within the blog. Way easier to find stuff. To follow special interests only, if that suits you. It will probably take a week or two before it is all done.

Tony Iommi has the cover of current French publication Rock Hard (June 2024) in support of the new Black Sabbath box. Good news from the UK where this box is currently #1 in the Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart. This is a huge deal.

(Magazine cover is from official platforms)

Good media support for the Tony Martin era Black Sabbath box “Anno Domini 1989-1995” in Europe. I heard a strange rumour about the official Black Sabbath facebook page that I just had to check out, that they do not support anything Sabbath except for the original Ozzy era band. Turns out to be true. So 11,000,000 Black Sabbath fans that follow that page will not see this box, or these magazine covers. Absolutely disgusting politics.

(My shot of some current magazines, Classic Rock 328, Sweden Rock Magazine 4 2023 and Fistful Of Metal 15)

Just in from the UK, Metal Hammer 388 and a current “Deluxe Remastered Edition” of a Black Sabbath Special that we have seen before. Hours of interesting stuff. I showcased the Babymetal content in the Metal Hammer edition a few days ago on this blog. Good covers.

Well I am digging into the new Black Sabbath box “Anno Domini 1989-1995” and the buzz that the 1995 album “Forbidden” is quite enjoyable now is all true. The Tony Iommi mix has gone a long way to make this a bonafide Sabbath classic. I am so excited about this that I had to give it a special mention on the blog. I also like that the CD box that I have has a few extra tracks on it.

(Seen here is the back of Fistful Of Metal 15 – nice ad for the box – the “Forbidden” CD and in the back you see a bit of a review of Tony´s book “Iron Man” that I published in Retrofuture 5 back in 2012)

The new Black Sabbath box “Anno Domini 1989-1995” popped up in the mail yesterday. Finally a set that takes a look at the Tony Martin years, starting from “Headless Cross” and onwards (the 1987 release “The Eternal Idol” is not part of the box). Loads of press at the moment, which I will highlight next on the blog (got some magazines coming in). My holiday kicks in this weekened so I will be able to enjoy this box in the weeks to come properly. Looks good though.

(My shot of said box, plus “Headless Cross” Tour Programme and one of my photographs from that tour in Sweden back in the day)

Spending quite a lot of time updating the blog (details will follow when this is done). Looking forward to the Black Sabbath “Anno Domini 1989-1995” box, which should pop up any day now.

Tony Martin era Black Sabbath is highlighted in Classic Rock 328, which is cool. Good to see that this period is getting some proper credit. I really do believe that the current box will be a good seller. I saw them twice back in the day, and it was really quite terrific. You will find some of my old Sabbath interviews – 1983, 1986, 1987 and 1989 – on this blog (Classic Rock Interviews tag).
