The Chap

Posted: May 31, 2016 in Cool stuff, Magazines, TV & Movies

And the Award For Best Magazine Cover Of The Month goes to… UK publication The Chap (April/May 2016). Very cool Emma Peel cover.

Very very British.

I was so pleased with the current Sunstorm album that featured Joe Lynn Turner on vocals that I decided to order the previous release, “Emotional Fire” (2012). This is the third outing and although it is not quite as good as the new one it is still pretty easy on the ears. If you enjoy mid 1980s Classic Rock/AOR (this one leans towards Bon Jovi territory) you will certainly feel good about this. Pretty uplifting.

Feels like a project though, not a band. This thing has evolved.

Strategic Relocation

If you live in America and have an interest in prepping, you may want to check out Joel M. Skousen´s book “Strategic Relocation”. Alex Jones over at InfoWars did a documentary with Skousen about the book a while back that you can check out right here (you will need well over two hours). There are good tips in this film for anybody that has an interest in this subject, even if you live elsewhere. If you consider the dangers that we all face today, it may be a good idea to look into this. Just look at Venezuela.

Prepare for the worst now, it could be too late before you know it.

The Hateful Eight

Posted: May 28, 2016 in TV & Movies

This movie by Quentin Tarantino is not for the fainthearted, but then he is trying to say something about what you will get in the title itself, “The Hateful Eight”. The cast is a dream come true – Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Walton Coggins (who carved out a nice reputation in the tv-series Justified) etc. They all portray despicable characters trapped by circumstances to spend some time together. And things will explode, no doubt about that. But who will trigger it and how far will it go? Well, it is a Tarantino movie…

Quite memorable, in more ways than one (the technical side is also worth a mention).

Barbarossa (2)

Posted: May 28, 2016 in Magazines

In less than a week I have seen two major articles on Operation Barbarossa, the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941. This one, published in Militär Historia (issue) 6 2016, is written by author Christer Bergström, who has just launched a book on the subject. This issue also features some interesting material about other historic events, not least the story about Davy Crockett and the Alamo.

These magazines are popular in Sweden.

Joe Lynn Turner is a great singer, no doubt about it. On the project Sunstorm he is a hired hand to put the icing on the cake, and boy does it work out beautifully. This is Classic Rock/AOR (think Malmsteen, Rainbow) at its best. Great album, very enjoyable. It is also the fourth since 2006 and they have done a video for the title track “Edge of Tomorrow” that makes justice to the project. Turner gives it all credibility and I think they may want to consider this to become more than a thing on the side. We need great bands.

Good cover artwork too, makes me think of the Purple video for “Love Conquers All”.

The hunt for a nice spot to move to some day continues and today I checked out a rather nice place here in Jämtland County. Interest was high so it is going to be interesting to see what happens with this place. I certainly liked it. Stunning nature. Great fishing waters close by. Nice trip in good company.

This is the kind of place I dig.
