The first Molly Hatchet album was released 40 years ago today. I recall finding it in a small record shop here in Östersund back in the day and I was certainly very happy about the Frank Frazetta cover art. And when I listened to some tracks on the album it was just what the doctor ordered. Back then, you were happy when you discovered a new band, because the scene was almost underground as far as media attention was concerned. You had some established bands and musicians and you had some new blood coming up, but a lot of the stuff from the early 1970s was just gone or in bad shape (Purple, Sabbath, Heep).

In the end, there was no stopping this music though.
