The Award Killers

You know you are on your way to superstardom when the Awards are coming in thick and fast from every direction, and this has certainly been the case for Babymetal. They have actually won over 20 prestigious Awards, ranging from Metal institutions like Kerrang, Metal Hammer and Loudwire to Fashion & Business institutions (Vogue etc) and they have been nominated for several more. For an act that has only two studio albums to their credit, this is phenomenal. US Metal outlet Loudwire says it all, Babymetal won the Best New Artist Award in 2014, won another three in 2015 (Best Live Act, Most Devoted Fans and Most Anticipated Release for 2016). They continued to rake in the Awards in 2016 (Best Metal Album “Metal Resistance”, Best Metal Song for “Karate”, Rock Goddess of 2016 Su-metal, Best Live Act and Most Devoted Fans). Now this is fans of Metal having their say.

I am telling you that this is just the beginning. They will be one of the Top 10 acts in the music industry within two years and this means that they will be tremendously important for Metal in general.

The trailer for the “Live At Wembley” DVD passed the 1,000,000 mark on YouTube today. Watch it here.

It’s not just the awards, they even set records. Metal Resistance was the highest charting Japanese album in UK and Australia ever and highest in 53 years in the US. First Japanese band to play at Wembley Arena. Although cheating for a bit, X-Japan was supposed to play a week before that. Yes, X-Japan no less, Koba is a big fan of X-Japan, clearly. Youngest to play at Summer Sonic and Loud Park and youngest female act to perform at Budokan. One of the youngest to perform at Wembley Arena. Most merchandise sold in one day at Wembley Arena. Those are the best known records, their might be more.
